Video Teller Machines
Put a face on it.
With traditional ATMs, entering your PIN is as close as you’ll come to experiencing the human touch. Now, even more member benefits and in-branch services—including the opportunity to speak with an NSFCU member service representative face-to-face during business hours—will be available on screen at North Shore Federal Credit Union locations featuring new VTMs (Video Teller Machines).
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT VTM’S
We’re excited to tell you why we’re embracing VTM’s and share everything we know about how this next-generation technology works.
Why are you switching to these machines?
We are making VTMs available to assist NSFCU members with basic transactions besides a cash withdrawal, even on nights, weekends, and holidays when our offices are closed. They are machines that will offer service to everyone alike. Those who prefer to do almost all their transactions independently and those who still prefer to speak with a person can utilize our VTMs.
So what is a VTM?
A Video Teller Machine (VTM) looks and operates like an ATM, but with one big difference: You can speak directly to an NSFCU member service representative at the machine using a live video during business hours. After business hours, the self-service options are expanded from your traditional ATM. It will provide a "branch in a box" experience. You'll be able to get cash, deposit checks, cash checks to the penny, make loan payments, transfer funds, and much more, allowing you to complete basic transactions even after regular business hours. You'll still be able to "talk to a teller" during business hours, but there is no need to wait to conduct your other basic transactions on nights, weekends, and holidays.
How do I use this machine?
Simply touch our VTM screen to instantly connect. It will then perform your transaction through the screen per usual—just like your drive-up window experience.
I want to make a withdrawal with my ATM card. Do I still use this machine?
Yup! All our VTMs are all-in-one. Simply insert your card and follow the on-screen prompts to withdraw cash.
Will VTMs replace employees?
Nope! Whether you do your banking business via our VTMs or come into our lobby to visit our tellers, you will still see NSFCU’s smiling faces.
What transactions can I do using this machine?
Deposits, withdrawals, cashing checks, loan payments, and transfers can be performed on our VTMs.
Am I able to get official checks, counter checks, statements, and account history from this machine?
Yes! Our VTMs will help you with your request, including printing your request to the lobby for you to pick up at your convenience.
What transactions will now be performed in a lobby only?
As advanced as VTM technology may be, there are still some services you’ll need to step into a branch to complete, including: Redeeming Savings Bonds, Cash Advances, and Coin Counting.
Can I use coins with this machine?
Our VTMs will dispense coins as needed for check cashing, withdrawals, etc.—but will not accept coins for deposit, payment, or exchange.
If I want more privacy, what do I do?
Our VTMs offer a text chat option. Simply let the on-screen Teller know, and they will be happy to communicate with you that way.
Will my transactions take longer?
Nope! It takes the same amount of time as in person.
